This course is an introduction to the interdisciplinary field of genocide studies with an emphasis on 20th century genocides and the Holocaust. The course will discuss the issues of definition and description of genocide, the precursors, process, and responses to mass violence. An integral part of the course will be working with written and oral testimonies of perpetrators, bystanders, and victims.
