This course analyzes the pivotal events over the last two decades leading to a return to entrenched confrontation between the Russia, on the one side, and the US and the EU, on the other. It does so from three regional perspectives – Russian, European, and American – and incorporates inter-disciplinary approaches, including International History, Political Science, Political Psychology, and Economics. Students will gain an understanding of the major domestic and foreign policy factors in all three regions – the US, EU, and Russia – that led the Euro-Atlantic-Eurasian area back into cold war and strengthened trends towards a larger, bipolar confrontation between the US and China.
